Earlier this year (before this blog existed, so we haven’t gotten to brag about it much) the National Association of Biology Teachers recognized Author Michael Ralph with the Outstanding Biology Teacher Award! Every year, the NABT recognizes one secondary teacher in every state. May we introduce 2014’s winner…
Just this past week, Olathe Public Schools’ board members recognized Michael’s achievements in the classroom, in front of a packed house at the school year’s first board meeting. Dozens of students, parents and administrators from around the district were there too for a number of awards. The board recognized Michael’s achievements in teaching Biology, AP Biology, sponsoring the Biotechnology Club, and overall just being an awesome teacher.
This was the big public display, but when Michael first found out about this award a few months ago, he wasn’t the first one to know. His entire department hosted a fun surprise get-together to celebrate the achievement and present him with the award.
By the way, OBTA candidates are judged on their teaching ability and experience, cooperativeness in the school and community, inventiveness, initiative, and student-teacher relationships.
Congrats to Michael!
